Organizations now can be assured of prompt notification should they ever fall out of compliance regardless of changing priorities, personnel, or workloads within their IT departments.

SkyView Partners has announced a new managed compliance monitoring service for both the IBM i and AIX platforms. The new SkyView Partners Managed Services for Compliance Reporting covers monthly compliance monitoring and annual vulnerability assessments and includes licenses of key components of SkyView’s popular software product line.

“What we’ve seen post-recession is a thinning of the information technology staff," says John Vanderwall, CEO of SkyView Partners. "There are fewer people to do the work than there were a few years ago. We often get calls from organizations in the middle of what I call the 'compliance dance'. They are scrambling to put together processes, documentation, and reports to pass along to auditors."

Vanderwall says that as soon as the audit is complete, however, these processes tend to be perceived as comparatively less important to other emerging priorities. "We know that as soon as the audit is done, the process tends to shift down on the priority list until it’s time for the next audit," he says.

In Vanderwall's experience, however, auditors aren't pleased when the organization can’t produce records of consistent application of their processes. Of course, this causes the organization to come under even more scrutiny.

What SkyView now is offering organizations is a chance for them to offload that work. SkyView will monitor and archive reports and alert organizations if anything falls out of compliance. Once a year, SkyView will do a thorough "vulnerability assessment" of the IBM i or AIX servers. Says Vanderwall: "Organizations get peace of mind knowing that someone is taking care of the details associated with compliance reporting.”

As part of the package, SkyView is including permanent licenses to its relevant software. General availability of the new managed service offering is scheduled for June 1.
