Independent assessment gives hosting company top marks in administrative, physical, technical, organizational, and policy safeguards.

Connectria Hosting, a global managed hosting provider, has announced it has successfully completed an independent HIPAA on-site assessment to confirm that its managed hosting services are compliant with the HIPAA standards and specifications.  The assessment was performed by ComplySmart, with Connectria receiving the highest HIPAA compliance ratings across all areas.

ComplySmart, healthcare compliance experts, conducted a thorough HIPAA/HITECH assessment of Connectria’s data centers, policies, controls, skills and technical standards.

Following the assessment, Connectria’s HIPAA Compliance Report Card received straight “A”s across each HIPAA mandate which included the highest ratings in compliance status across HIPAA administrative, physical, technical, organizational, and policy safeguards.

“We are very pleased with ComplySmart’s assessment results,” noted Dennis King, Connectria’s privacy officer and director of Information Security.  “This independent assessment assures our managed hosting customers that we are delivering the appropriate safeguards they need in order to protect and maintain their protected health information (PHI) according to HIPAA and HITECH standards.”

King further emphasized, “It is critical for any entity that is storing or maintaining PHI to ensure HIPAA compliance, particularly since the penalties for non-compliance are so great.  Recently the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) just reached a $1.5 million settlement with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee over a 2010 data breach.  And it has been reported that the true cost to BlueCross related to the investigation and remediation of this incident is over $17 million.”

According to King, “Connectria’s HIPAA Compliant Managed Hosting services not only help healthcare organizations maintain their own HIPAA and HITECH compliance, but it also gives them peace of mind.  Because of the complexity and costs to achieve compliance, and the significant fines associated with non-compliance, Connectria’s HIPAA Compliant Hosting continues to be one of our fastest growing segments.”

Connectria provides both packaged and customized HIPAA managed hosting solutions for healthcare providers, healthcare-related software companies (including Software as a Service or SaaS providers), or other entities who store, maintain or access PHI subject to HIPAA compliance.  With hosting expertise across one of the largest technology sets in the industry, Connectria provides superior dedicated server hosting, cloud hosting and hybrid hosting solutions.  A recent, independent survey of Connectria’s HIPAA customers revealed 96 percent customer satisfaction with Connectria’s managed hosting services.
