Shield Advanced Solutions has released HA4i  V6.1, a high availability product for the IBM i.  This product supersedes Shield’s current option, RAP V4R1. HA4i is an affordable, easy-to-manage high availability product for the SMB market, the company says. It provides the replication processes required to keep two systems in sync using tried and trusted IBM technology, according to Shield. 

HA4i is the result of a major redevelopment of the previous RAP product. Some of the lesser used features have been removed reducing clutter for speed and efficiency.  Introduced into this latest product are many new features that were identified by Shield customers on their recent wish-list for the product. This streamlined product has become a very attractive high-availability solution for customers who previously felt they couldn’t afford high availability, the company says. 

New features and improvements include: 

• Intelligent, less complex start-up process
• Simplified management – new menus, less clutter
• New granular Apply process, which provides a better application recovery approach
• Improved auditing – profiles, extend attributes objects and much more
• New objects replicated on demand
• PHP interface available
• New name HA4i
