New IBM i Lunch & Learn Series Coming This Fall
System i Developer (SiD) announces that three highly regarded IBM Champions—Patrick Behr, Simon Hutchinson, and Mike Pavlak—have joined the SiD consortium, partnering with Jon Paris and Susan Gantner to produce a Fall Summit Lunch & Learn series for IBM i developers.
Free registration for the Lunch & Learn event, which is scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from October 21 - November 6, 2025, will open on September 23.
SiD has offered in-depth learning events for IBM i developers since their first in-person RPG & Db2 Summit in 2007. Their most recent event, the Lunch & Learn series in spring 2024 that marked partner Paul Tuohy's official retirement, attracted over 1,000 attendees.
According to Susan, finding the right people to help her and Jon continue SiD's tradition of practical, how-to education proved challenging.
"It took some time, but we're thrilled that Simon, Mike, and Patrick stepped forward," she says. "They each have deep technical knowledge in several areas. They understand the best uses for different techniques, and they make complex concepts easy to understand. The fact that they're committed to giving back to the IBM i community means a lot to us. They're the perfect fit for SiD."
Jon agrees. "Their reputations speak for themselves," he says. "They really know their stuff, and they freely share their knowledge. In fact, we've turned to each of them over the years for help with our own technical questions."
The group plans to build out additional development-focused training for the future. "We're not ruling out anything at this point," Jon says.
