IBM FlashSystem V840 is a combined hardware and software storage system with flash capacity and a single point of control for storage resources. FlashSystem V840 includes many functions traditionally deployed separately in disk systems.

FlashSystem V840 Control Enclosure Model AC1 delivers expanded connectivity with the following available host features:

  • 8 Gb FC
  • 16 Gb FC
  • 10 Gb iSCSI
  • 10 Gb FCoE

FlashSystem V840 Control Enclosure Model AC1 now support FlashSystem V840 Software V7.4 (5639-FS7) which provides increased Real-time Compression performance and features two optional compression accelerator cards for hardware-assisted compression.

The inclusion of 16 Gb FC connectivity in FlashSystem V840 enables simple and efficient scaling of 16 Gb FC switches, leveraging faster link speed and increased system bandwidth by delivering the ability to select either 8 Gb or 16 Gb interconnect switches for enclosure connectivity.

All FlashSystem V840 functional capabilities are provided through IBM FlashSystem Software V7.4 for IBM FlashSystem V840.
