Invitation sparked by BT announcement to close EDI*Net services in coming months.

nuBridges announced that it is inviting British Telecommunications (BT) customers to join its electronic data interchange value added network (EDI VAN) gateway, nuBridges Exchange Network. The invitation comes in the wake of a recent BT announcement to its customers that, effective Feb. 24, 2010, the company will close its EDI*Net service.

BT EDI*Net and nuBridges Exchange Network are related through joint roots, technology and cooperative agreements, making it very easy for BT EDI*Net customers to move their EDI transactions to nuBridges, the company said.

Both BT EDI*Net and nuBridges Exchange Network share the same EDI*Net technology foundation, originally established in 1983; BT via a 1989 acquisition from McDonnell Douglas and nuBridges via a 2004 acquisition from Verizon. nuBridges and BT have collaborated since 2004 with nuBridges Exchange Network serving as the gateway to U.S. companies for BT EDI*Net customers. As a result of this transparent connection, many BT EDI*Net customers already use nuBridges Exchange Network for transactions with U.S. companies.

Since acquiring the North American EDI*Net business in 2004, nuBridges has expanded its geographic focus to the U.K. and Europe, and has enhanced the network’s capabilities continuously. nuBridges specializes in EDI VAN migrations; dedicated migration analysts step customers and their trading partners through the entire process, making it fast and easy.

“We strongly encourage BT EDI*Net customers to secure a backup provider early, and we believe that nuBridges is the best and most logical choice to ensure a smooth transition of these vital business services,” said Paul L.H. Olson, CEO of nuBridges. “We share a common core network heritage with the BT EDI*Net network, and have continued to improve and enhance the capabilities of this value added network over the years.”

Being a leading provider in EDI VAN services, nuBridges Exchange Network handles more than $900 billion in EDI transactions annually and is the only EDI VAN that requires 100 percent secure connections. Hundreds of U.K. and EU companies use nuBridges Exchange Network today to securely deliver business documents. nuBridges Exchange Network averages a 12-month rolling network uptime of 99.9986 percent and maintains redundant premium data centers for disaster recovery. In addition, nuBridges Exchange Network is ISO 17999 approved and holds security certification through IBM Internet Security Systems.

“We invite BT EDI*Net customers to contact us today to find out how easy the transition to the global nuBridges Exchange Network will be,” Olson said. “We are confident that we have the right technology, the right services and the right pricing to make it easy for BT EDI*Net customers to continue business operations without disruption, and to end up with even better service and value.”

In addition to the nuBridges Exchange Network, nuBridges offers a full range of secure data exchange and protection products and services, including B2B gateway software for business integration and managed file transfer (MFT) solutions; as well as encryption, key management and tokenization solutions that protect stored data and help organizations comply with data security mandates and privacy laws.
