looksoftware today announced a partnership with Latin American BYTE, Inc. (BYTE) to deliver application modernization solutions and services to its financial services and telecommunications industry customers.
Confirming looksoftware's reputation for getting results in short time frames, BYTE was able to prototype, develop and implement its first installation within four weeks, the companies said.
Homero Bosch, BYTE's manager of distributors and channels, commented, "After an intensive evaluation of the available application modernization products, the selection of looksoftware was easy. Within four weeks, and with little help from looksoftware, our technical personnel were able to generate a prototype, obtain final approval, and be ready to implement at our first customer site--a telecommunications operator in Central America."
Among the elements evaluated by BYTE were not just how easy it was to make graphic transformations, but also the ability to offer multiple channels, integration, and an overall improvement of the user experience.
"We are establishing an Application Modernization Competency Center in Latin America using looksoftware's solutions. This will help our customers and other companies (i.e. non-BYTE customers) to reduce their operating costs and improve productivity and competitiveness, through more effective reuse of their existing IT assets," Bosch said.
Another major reason for partnering with looksoftware, is BYTE's intention to expand its market penetration into the mainframe arena. "Given looksoftware's capabilities with both System i and System z, we see this as an obvious path forward for us. This alliance with looksoftware is a strategic step in BYTE's expansion plans," said Bosch.
Marcus Dee, looksoftware's managing director, said he is delighted with the new partnership, and added, "There is significant opportunity for us to work together to make a major contribution in the Latin American market. With the success BYTE has achieved thus far, 2009 could be the ‘Year of Latin America' for us!"
