IBM Cloud Orchestrator V2.4, formerly known as IBM SmartCloud Orchestrator, helps transform IT organizations into a self-service delivery center. It fully automates the delivery of IT services, enabling IT to take advantage of the speed and flexibility of the cloud while helping to reduce operational costs and accelerating time to market.

IT services can be delivered in minutes through automated self-service offerings, which provide impactful benefits: a significant reduction in manual steps otherwise typically needed for coordinating compute, storage, and network configurations, and a seamless integration with management tools and processes necessary to provide a smooth go-live into production. Whether organizations need to deliver a test environment to development departments or need to move into production the latest release of a complex multitier application topology, IBM Cloud Orchestrator provides a complete automation solution that reduces administrator workloads and error-prone manual tasks.

Self-service IT offerings can be built by leveraging a large library of ready-to-use cloud services made of prebuilt application patterns as well as automation packages that integrate with a wide range of service management tools.

IBM Cloud Orchestrator does not lock you into one vendor. It supports open standards and is built on the OpenStack technology, which provides a rich and powerful set of infrastructure features to provision workloads.

On-premise virtualization technologies, such as VMWare, Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), IBM PowerVM, and IBM zVM, as well as resources running on public clouds such as Amazon EC2 or IBM Softlayer, can be fully automated to implement a hybrid cloud platform.

IBM Cloud Orchestrator offers significantly increased data protection capabilities, scalability, and performance for all its database-intensive operations which, based on IBM DB2 technology, are designed to manage data more effectively and efficiently. Greater availability is delivered through enhancements such as online, automated database reorganization. In addition, the increased scalability and the ability to leverage the latest in server technology help deliver increased performance of backup and recovery processes.
