Continuity Software has released RecoverGuard V4.0, featuring key enhancements in the areas of cluster system support, root cause analysis, and high availability (HA) gap detection and reporting. RecoverGuard now offers customers an end-to-end solution for ensuring business continuity by providing a tool to validate and assure both restore point and restore time objectives (i.e., RPO and RTO).

RecoverGuard v4.0 enhancements include the following:

•      High Availability (HA) Cluster Verification-Comprehensive gap detection for high availability clusters--virtually all HA cluster implementations/technologies are now supported.

•      Comprehensive Availability Advisor-Automatically detects configuration drifts affecting disaster recovery/high availability servers-including domain, DNS settings, installed products, service packs, operating system version, kernel parameters, hardware (i.e., CPU, memory, NIC and HBA), storage routing, single points of failure, redundancy, service level agreement (SLA) parameters, etc.

•      Root Cause Analysis-In addition to being able to discover and report on all DR and HA gaps and vulnerabilities, RecoverGuard V4.0 is now able to discern which infrastructure changes led to the problem, helping the customer to both fix the existing issue, as well as ensure it doesn't happen again in the future.

•      Deployment Analysis-RecoverGuard V4.0 has added specific assessment capabilities that find and report on IT assets that require protection, however do not currently have any level of protection, at all (i.e., a host that is not replicated, missing members of a cluster, etc.).

"In today's highly stressed IT environments, unanticipated and unwanted downtime still happens.  A high availability infrastructure for processors and storage is one of your best protections.  Yet, even an HA infrastructure can drift as configuration changes are implemented, manual adjustments are made, new releases of software and firmware are applied, and underlying business processes evolve," said James Baker, research manager, storage software, IDC.  "The result is that too many IT organizations fall short of meeting their uptime requirements.  However, with the additional HA capabilities from Continuity Software, RecoverGuard will provide customers with the ability to identify and proactively correct potential HA threats, thus eliminating this risk of downtime and helping to ensure that service level (SLA) objectives are met."

"The enhancements in RecoverGuard V4.0 stem from countless conversations with customers that told us that while highly critical, data protection was just half of the equation-to truly address their business continuity challenge, they needed a solution to help them to maintain availability as well," said Gil Hecht, founder and CEO, Continuity Software.  "RecoverGuard V4.0 will provide customers with complete visibility into their HA infrastructure-where virtually none existed before.  This heightened level of HA awareness and management control, combined with RecoverGuard's existing DR monitoring capabilities, will enable customers to completely eliminate all business continuity threats."

Hecht added, "It is common industry knowledge, that the cost of periodic testing is outrageous in terms of both time and money.  The ability to transition DR and HA testing from a point-in-time event to a continuous ongoing capability will provide a dramatic budgetary savings as well."

RecoverGuard V4.0 is now generally available.  Annual license pricing is based on the number of protected servers in the customer's environment.

Continuity Software will be offering a live online demonstration of RecoverGuard V4.0 and discussion on the topic of "How to Eliminate Business Continuity Threats" on Tuesday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  To register, visit: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/472989510.
