Integrating security compliance monitoring and reporting into a daily-use tool like Vision Solutions Portal is expected to encourage users to monitor security compliance on a more frequent basis.

SkyView Partners has announced the integration of its Policy Minder software product with the Vision Solutions Portal (VSP). Policy Minder is the first third-party software product to be integrated into Vision's Portal.

Vision Solutions Portal (VSP) delivers a single, browser-based point of control for monitoring and managing alerts and notifications in IBM i through its MIMIX Global solution. SkyView Policy Minder delivers automated security compliance monitoring and reporting on the IBM i environment.

By integrating the two products, users of Vision Solutions Portal will be able to see through a browser-based interface, as part of the MIMIX Global solution, whether SkyView Policy Minder security compliance checks have been successful and whether automated “fix-it” functions have completed normally. If problems arise, a visual notification will alert the operator to investigate the issue further through Policy Minder. Because Vision Solutions Portal is designed as a daily use console to detect issues and give greater control over the IBM i operating environment, integrating Policy Minder into it will place additional focus on security compliance, according to the companies.

“Security compliance tends to be a fire drill. When audit-time approaches, everyone scrambles to test processes and make sure everything is in place. Integrating into a daily-use tool like Vision Solutions Portal changes that dynamic, and security compliance becomes a daily routine and discipline," says Carol Woodbury, president of SkyView Partners, Inc. “We are excited to see this new facet of Policy Minder as we make it available to the IBM i community.”

“By integrating SkyView Policy Minder into the Vision Solutions Portal, we reduce confusion by presenting system security-related events and the tools needed to recover from server failures in the same console,” notes Alan Arnold, chief technology officer, Vision Solutions. "This interlock will offer IT organizations a streamlined approach to complying with demanding service-level agreements.”

General availability of the offering is planned for September 1.
