The PowerTech Group has announced general availability of Version 3.0 of PowerTech Interact. A leading solution for capturing real-time security events for IBM i servers, Interact 3.0 now delivers significantly more monitoring capabilities including enhanced IP tracking.
Interact provides real-time visibility to audit logs from the IBM i (AS/400, iSeries, and System i) servers, thereby empowering organizations to effectively monitor server activity and protect the business critical data stored on the server. If someone is trying to break into a privileged account (security officer), Interact 3.0 with its enhanced IP tracking can send a message, in real time, to enterprise security personnel that shows the originating IP address of the personal computer from which the attacker is attempting to log in.
Other new capabilities of Interact 3.0 include:
· 25 new event types including job monitoring and command monitoring
· Support for IBM i Licensed Program Product licensing
· Significantly smaller installation footprint
"Since we released version 2.0 last year, the market has embraced Interact enthusiastically because of its ability to transmit events in real time to enterprise security consoles," said John Earl, PowerTech CTO. "Security and network staff appreciate that OS/400 security events are parsed into a meaningful description that they can understand."
Interact is the most interoperable OS/400 solution on the market, due in part, to its support for Syslog, the most widely accepted vehicle for communicating system information between disparate systems and applications, and the fact that every leading security information management console can read Syslog data formats. Interact can be used to send events and logs from the IBM i to leading Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) vendors such as: ArcSight, CA, Cisco MARS, High Tower, IBM ISS, Intellitactics, LogRhythm, LogLogic, Novell, Symantec, OpenService, Q1 Labs, RSA enVision (EMC), and TriGeo.
Many OS/400 security event types that appear in Interact are now detailed in PowerTech's innovative OS/400 Compliance Guide. The guide offers multiple search and lookup options that provide in-depth usable expertise on a variety of security risks and concerns, and maps IBM i security issues to the Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations, and CobiT and ISO standards commonly used by auditors.
Interact 3.0, like other PowerTech products, fully supports IBM i 6.1. The GA version of Interact 3.0 is available today. Contact PowerTech for a free 30-day trial by writing to
