Users now can activate up to 25 fields at a time for encryption, encrypt and save up to 600 libraries at once, and have enhanced tokenization processes.

Linoma Software has announced the general availability of V3.0 of Crypto Complete, the company’s encryption software for IBM i. In addition to several new and expanded encryption management capabilities, the company has significantly restructured its licensing terms, resulting in savings up to 50 percent for new customers.

Since 2007, Crypto Complete has been a solution for encrypting data at all levels, from field encryption to backup and IFS encryption, helping organizations to meet compliance requirements with PCI DSS, HIPAA, GLBA, Sarbanes-Oxley and state privacy regulations. Crypto Complete 3.0 provides several enhancements, including the ability to activate up to 25 fields at a time for encryption, encrypt/save up to 600 libraries at a time, as well as enhancements to the tokenization processes for encrypting/storing data from other systems.

A significant change to the release is a new licensing model that allows the product’s backup encryption or field encryption capabilities to be licensed separately. This means customers can save money by only licensing the features they need.

Those who license the field encryption feature will have access to Crypto Complete's innovative field encryption registry, tokenization capabilities, APIs and functions. For customers on IBM i 7.1, the field encryption features of Crypto Complete provide full support for DB2 field procedures, including fully automatic encryption and decryption of field values. This allows customers to implement encryption quickly without changing their applications.

Those who buy the backup encryption license will be able to do the following:

• Apply strong AES-256 encryption for backups and IFS files

• Protect data using either strong passphrases or symmetric keys

• Encrypt and restore targeted libraries and objects, with support for wildcards

• Save and restore from existing tape drives (no additional hardware required)

• Save disk space and time by not generating intermediate save files

• Store key labels with encrypted backups to simplify restores

• Incorporate backup commands into existing processes (e.g. CL programs, BRMS, schedulers)

Pricing for the backup encryption feature starts at $1,995 for an IBM i P05 processor group, which is a 50 percent savings over earlier pricing for the complete product. With Crypto Complete 3.0, Linoma also is introducing a discounted bundled pricing option for customers who purchase both the field and backup encryption features.

No matter which features are purchased, customers will be able to meet stringent compliance requirements, including strong key management, policy settings, security controls, email and message alerts. Detailed audit trails are also included with informative reports.
