SkyView Partners and Innovatum today announced a security-compliance product that is complimentary to SkyView Policy Minder and will be sold as an add-on to enable a 360-degree view of the System i.

SkyView Policy Minder is a security policy compliance management tool for, IBM i, i5/OS, and OS/400 that helps companies stay in compliance with their own security policies. The need for a practical implementation of a security policy that governs data security has become a huge issue for most corporations. SkyView Policy Minder is a tool that replaces a largely manual process normally deployed to solve the issue of security compliance management on the Power, System i, and iSeries platforms.

Innovatum's DataThread is a premiere database and system audit tool that dynamically monitors compliance-significant activity while ignoring millions of normal routine transactions.

Developers at the two firms have integrated Policy Minder and DataThread to form Policy Minder Real Time powered by DataThread. It is an add-on product that enables a 360 degree view of the IBM i, System i, and iSeries platforms. The solution integrates audit journal events with the policy management capabilities of Policy Minder. This integration facilitates active, real-time enforcement of corporate and regulatory policies at a granular level and provides proactive detection, capture, and correction of security policy changes, the companies said.

"Government regulations and standards from Sarbanes Oxley to the Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standards through ISO/IEC 27001 have brought significant focus on the issue of adherence to corporate security policy standards," said Carol Woodbury, president of SkyView Partners. "Auditors want to know what your policy is, how it's been implemented on platforms like the System i, and (get) an assurance that regular compliance checking has occurred. That's why we created SkyView Policy Minder. We see Policy Minder Real Time powered by DataThread created by Innovatum as adding a new dimension to the issue of security policy enforcement and (we) are very pleased with its development," she said.

"The (IBM) i, System i and iSeries have some of the best capabilities for compliance and audit; but the organization must activate the appropriate settings and security levels," said Ardi Batmanghelidj, president of Innovatum. "Carol Woodbury is a preeminent security expert who has simplified this process to a manageable level and automated the activity with Policy Minder. We are delighted to be able to deliver this product as a compliment to the SkyView Policy Minder offering and to provide the (IBM) i, System i, and iSeries community with a complete compliance and audit solution," he said.
