Kisco Information Systems announces the immediate availability of version 10.11 of SafeNet/i, the popular and industry leading solution for IBM i network security. This new version of SafeNet/I Release 10 adds several major new enhancements to the product.

About the Product

At its core, SafeNet/i is a network security package for the IBM i family of platforms. It uses IBM i operating system exit points to protect your system from unauthorized connections from common network sources including System i Navigator, FTP and ODBC, and others. The product features complete audit tools including access logging, audit reporting and automatic notifications.

Access can be controlled through user profiles and various control parameters, such as time of day or day of week controls. Furthermore, SafeNet/i allows you to implement these controls without changing your system configuration.

First released in 1996, SafeNet/i was, at that time, the only available exit point based solution for network security. Now, seventeen years and ten releases later, Kisco Information Systems continues to retain its position of market leadership.Release

New in Version 10.11

SafeNet/i now includes an interface to IBM’s QRadar family of security information and event management (SIEM) software products. Using this integration feature, SafeNet/i customers can add the security information captured by SafeNet/i from network connections to other security information being posted for the enterprise.

Also new with this release level, there are new sequencing options for customers to choose from when performing object level testing for access rights. Prior to this release, customers could only use the standard progression of testing provided by the software. Now, there are multiple sequence checking options that allow the customer to tailor object checking to their own unique needs.

SafeNet/i now also provides specific object authorization paths for native IBM i object checking that is separated from the IFS path object authorizations. The separation of the two makes administration and reporting much easier. The result also provides for faster throughput.

For customers using profile swapping, SafeNet/i can now be set up to be server dependent. Using this new feature, a user profile can be swapped for one specific server, but not for others. This provides for stronger segregation of responsibilities at the user level.

Pricing and Availability

SafeNet/i is available in two versions, SafeNet/i Lite and SafeNet/i.

The Lite version provides entry-level network controls allowing shops to secure server functions at the user profile level. Some limited access to the Web-Central interface is available, but full use requires the full software version.

The full package includes all of the Lite features plus network security to the object level. It also permits controls at the SQL verb level, CL command level, FTP command level and much more. Full support for the Web-Central browser interface is supported at this level.
