Surround Technologies has announced the general availability of V3.3 of its Accelerator for .NET software development platform, a productivity solution for the development and use of .NET applications that works with IBM i.

The Accelerator for .NET is a base set of functionality, core structured architecture, and wizard-driven code generation, which allows for business solutions to be developed faster, to better standards, and with more functionality than otherwise possible. It opens the full power of .NET for developers and empowers software developers to efficiently build enterprise quality software specific to business needs. This product will accelerate the development process to make it faster, better, and allow you to deliver more functionality than is ordinarily possible.

The Accelerator for .NET generates complete .NET code that integrates seamlessly with IBM i and allows businesses to enhance user experience while leveraging the power of their IBM i system. The Accelerator provides a roadmap to develop applications and integrate new technology and advanced capabilities without limitations or dead-ends.

Accelerator for .NET V3.3 includes several new features:

  • Multi-module Tree View—View data from related modules in an easy to read tree view. Click to preview and double click to edit capabilities for all data from a single content window.
  • Auto Refresh with Count-down Timer—Refresh the data in a content window using a preset time interval. Users can set timers per modules and their settings are remembered at sign-on.
  • Spool File Modules—Search, view and export spool files located on your IBM i.
  • Remarks Modules—Save notes/remarks on any record in a system. Control visibility from user security permission.
  • User Sign-on/Sign-off Tracking—System level logging of every user who signs on and off. Tracks orphan sign-ons and erroneous sessions.
  • Application Record Locking—Editable records are locked upon opening. Based on security permissions other users attempting to view the same record are given either read-only or denied-access messaging.
  • Many speed improvements and miscellaneous bug fixes.

These new features expand an ever-growing list of features created to expand and modernize legacy systems. The Accelerator allows for a range of options, from reusing code in the background while building a rich user interface, to completely rebuilding systems, and everything in between.
