Kisco Information Systems today announced the immediate availability of Release 10 of its popular WebReport/400 package.

With this release, WebReport/400 can be used to send System i spool files by fax using the Internet fax service, MetroFax. This inexpensive fax service provides easy delivery of email messages by fax. Most companies will find this is cheaper than the cost of a fax phone line, the company says. No special hardware or software is needed on your i. WebReport/400 has been upgraded to format email messages from standard report spool files to work easily with the MetroFax service.

WebReport/400 includes the ability to convert spool files into Microsoft Excel format (XLS), along with other popular output formats available in earlier releases--PDF, HTML, TXT, RTF and CSV. MS Excel conversion accuracy has been greatly improved through the implementation of report models within WebReport/400 so that specific columnar data can always be captured correctly.

The new release also includes these new features:

•        Improved activity logging with an activity database for more comprehensive reporting

•        Improved application security with the differentiation of software users and software administrators

•        New optional support for sending processing to run in batch

•        Support improvements for color advanced function printing (AFP) overlays

•        Improved report splitting for PDF conversions that use AFP overlays

WebReport/400 is an e-business utility that will convert System i reports to PDF, Excel or formatted text and distribute them in email or as internet/intranet content. The application offers flexible configuration and ease of use, as well as the ability to embed report distribution functionality into your existing applications. Reports can be processed manually, set up to be handled automatically using monitored output queues, or imbedded directly into applications using our standard OS command formats.
