GeneXus USA CEO Dane Drotts showcased GeneXus’ mobile technology solutions at the i.c.stars iOpener innovation conference in Chicago last week.

The theme of the conference was mobility and the cloud, and GeneXus was among the solution providers that demonstrated products as part of the technology showcase.

The i.c.stars iOpener conference brings together Chicago-area technology leaders to discuss the global economic forces affecting the local IT workforce and what businesses are doing to stay ahead of an ever-changing industry. i.c.stars identifies, trains, and jump-starts technology careers for Chicago-area low-income young adults who, although lacking access to education and employment, demonstrate extraordinary potential for success in the business world and for impact in their communities.

GeneXus Smart Device Generator

The GeneXus Smart Device Generator allows software developers to build an application once, and automatically generate native code for any platform and technology, including iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android, and Windows 7. It enables applications to be developed 75 percent faster than manually writing code, according to the company. In addition, GeneXus software includes a unique feature to deploy apps to the cloud automatically.

“With the surge of new devices and tablets, mobile applications have gone from luxury to necessity, and businesses are feeling the pressure to build new apps for multiple platforms, customize apps for specific market segments, and enhance the user experience — and to do it quickly,” says Drotts. He added that he enjoyed showing attendees at i.c.stars’ innovation conference how GeneXus mobile technology simplifies and accelerates application development.

GeneXus helps businesses innovate every day by embracing mobility and leveraging knowledge-based IT tools across the industry. GeneXus customers include many big-name corporations and organizations throughout the U.S. and across the globe.

“GeneXus helps companies innovate by rapidly developing and deploying mobile apps, thereby gaining a competitive advantage and stronger market share, something I know is of interest to the companies and individuals involved in i.c.stars,” Drotts said.

The annual iOpener conference was a great opportunity to network with CIOs and entrepreneurs, gather new ideas for their businesses, and learn about emerging trends in workforce development, according to Sandee Kastrul, president and co-founder of i.c.stars. The event explored how to nurture a "culture of innovation." She said having companies like GeneXus participate in the technology showcase helps bring this concept to life.
