ASNA hosted a "Mobile Day" mobile application development workshop to introduce attendees to ASNA Mobile RPG (MR) and let them see, first hand, how MR helps them fulfill their enterprise needs for mobile applications running on smartphones and tablets.

ASNA Mobile RPG uses a Windows-based environment to create the UI for mobile applications. This mobile UI builder includes user interface "widgets" for all of the elements necessary for a modern mobile user interface (including signature capture, maps, images, charts, geo location, messaging, and data input/output). The back end of the application can be written either in IBM i ILE RPG or in ASNA's Visual RPG. Mobile RPG abstracts away all the other traditional mobile development stack so that programmers can focus on solving their mobile challenge, without the need for learning technologies such as Java, PHP, Objective C, and JavaScript.

Says Jose Maria Carrasco, ASNA's European Sales Manager, "Our Mobile Day was quite a success. During the day, attendees were able to write their own code with Mobile RPG-and they left the workshop with a working trial copy of Mobile RPG. It was interesting to hear our attendees explain their mobile application challenges in the morning and then, by mid-afternoon, watch their eyes pop as they wrote code themselves to solve those very challenges."

The attendees overwhelming all echoed the same sentiment that their organizations need IBM i mobile computing applications but their teams lack the skills to build these mobile apps in a timely fashion. A clear message of the day was that ASNA's Mobile RPG puts rapid, effective mobile development in programmers' hands without a long learning curve.

ASNA's Carles Bou, European Technical Sales Support, was the technical instructor and led the attendees through a variety of mobile application exercises. He says, "I was very impressed with our attendees. They did a great job learning new concepts and ideas quickly. With just a little bit of our help they were all mobile programmers by the end of the day. The attendees were all pleasantly surprised that, with Mobile RPG, mobile applications are indeed within the grasp of their development teams."

ASNA will host other Mobile Days in several cities around the globe during 2015. Please watch our Website, asna.com for more information.
