The companies are offering iBOOST as a monthly rental to help speed up batch run times for customers who wish to extend the life of existing hardware.

iBOOST, Ltd. has collaborated with U.S. partner Midrange Performance Group (MPG) to offer a new way to license its highly successful iSTREAM solution aimed at dramatically improving batch performance through multi-streaming without source code changes. Users now can license iSTREAM on a rental basis rather than  purchase a full software license.

For as little as $995 per month, users can achieve "massive savings" in batch run times, according to the company, extending the lifetime of existing hardware and reducing operational risk.

Iain Coles, iBOOST CEO, says “We have had many clients who badly need the help that we offer but are not certain enough about the future of their server platform to purchase a full license. For them and others who predict that they may only need a temporary solution, our new pricing is the perfect solution.”

Coles points to further possible benefits when he adds, “In addition, we believe that some users may rent the license from us to help them survive until a planned server upgrade or consolidation.”

iSTREAM allows users to improve batch performance by deploying a toolkit that can enable multi-streaming of single streamed batch processes, without the need to change any of the underlying application source code. Typical results would be at least a 50 percent reduction in runtimes. Further functionality allows the replacement of traditional media backup strategies with journal-based backup and multi-streamed recovery techniques, again with no access required to application source. The software can typically be implemented, tested, and live within a few days of installation.

iSTREAM is predominantly used in Europe where recent implementations have allowed a large insurance company to reduce overnight batch run times by 40 percent, despite only having one processor. The company cites another case in which a large retail bank was able to reduce the batch run time of a job from 310 minutes to 43 minutes. In both cases, the set-up of iSTREAM took just a few hours.

Pricing is based on the number of processors installed on the target machine and starts at just $995 per month. The software can be downloaded from www.iboostsystems.com
