Worldwide direct VAR agreement allows Tributary Systems to offer IBM customers modern disk as well as tape backup and restore options.

Tributary Systems, Inc. , an IBM Business Partner Solution Integrator and a global leader in storage solutions, has signed a direct VAR agreement with Quantum Corp. to bring their combined backup storage solutions to users of IBM i for Power Systems and IBM z/OS mainframes.

“For IBM z/OS and IBM i for Power Systems customers, the integration of Tributary’s Storage Director /ViTAL backup virtualization solution with all of the Quantum DXi-Series disk backup and data deduplication systems and all of the Quantum Scalar tape libraries is an outstanding opportunity to add new technology options,” said Ed Ahl, Tributary’s director of business development. “Together, Tributary and Quantum offer IBM customers a single solution to easily share storage resources among multiple server environments, to replicate data to disaster recovery locations over WAN infrastructures, and to migrate their existing legacy data media to newer technology.”

“Many existing and prospective Quantum customers have heterogeneous server environments that include IBM zOS mainframe, IBM Power i and iSeries servers in addition to open systems servers. With Tributary’s Storage Director, these customers can now leverage their investments in our leading-edge DXi-Series deduplication appliances and Scalar tape automation solutions by consolidating their backup storage across these platforms,” said Peter Prinos, senior director of Quantum Global Alliances.
