Surround Technologies has announced the release of Version 7.0 of Envision Accelerator for Visual Lansa. Version 7.0 represents a breakthrough in delivering high functionality in an application deployed across the Web by integrating Windows-style handling and features within a browser.

Extensive use of AJAX and other advanced programming techniques are equally important in making this a watershed event, as the benefits of this approach can only be significant when accompanied by performance levels that rival that of a native desktop application, the company says.

Surround Technologies CEO Lee Paul explains, "Seeing a Web application that handles and works like a Windows app, with no screen refresh as you move back and forth through data, liberates you from your existing preconceptions about application deployment. We have caused several major clients recently to rethink what they thought they were going to do."

Billed as the Windows-on-the-Web edition of the Accelerator product, the full impact becomes clear as you see how easily new custom applications are built using Accelerator's simple point-and-click assembly process. Further, the Accelerator Wizard simultaneously builds apps that can be run on Windows desktops in addition to zero-deployment Web apps, allowing one application to support users deployed by either means and with no added training.

Besides breaking new ground in user interfaces, the release adds many new features, including Auto-Ajax, Skins, Image Libraries and more. Version 7.0, the Windows-on-the-Web edition of Envision Accelerator is available now exclusively through Surround Technologies.
