ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments is showcasing a variety of new and upgraded products at the Storage Networking World Spring 2007 conference being held through April 19 in San Diego.

The company is exhibiting its FastStream! Storage Controller appliance, its new ExpressSAS SAS/SATA RAID adapters, and its fourth generation 4-GB Celerity Fibre Channel host adapters, among others.

The FastStream appliance line addresses the need to add RAID protection to critical data without suffering the performance impact associated with more traditional solutions.

ATTO's ExpressSAS adapters provide high-performance RAID protection for SAS/SATA storage solutions, today's fastest growing storage connectivity technology. ATTO will display the latest model in ATTO's industry-leading 4-GB Fibre Channel product line. With this model, ATTO extends its position as the first and longest shipping manufacturer of 4-GB Fibre Channel adapters in the world, according to the company.

Designed as slim 1U 19-inch external rack that integrates into existing SCSI storage, FastStream adds data protection and storage networking. FastStream provides 480 MB/second performance with 4-GB Fibre Channel SAN connectivity and/or Ultra320 interfaces for easy connectivity to any SCSI or Fibre-Channel storage.

Designed to enable direct-attached storage to become part of a storage area network, FastStream allows unused storage to be reclaimed and made available to the servers that need it most, the company says.

The FastStream Storage Controller is JBOD and RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 configurable. Adding RAID to existing storage devices guarantees high storage availability, prevents data loss, and eliminates failures from individual storage systems. Existing RAID volumes can be expanded, mirrors added, or RAID levels changed dynamically while keeping all data intact.

The provisioning feature enables optimal use of storage assets and the ability to modify the storage infrastructure with minimal or no disruption to application services. Management is simple with the ATTO ExpressNAVTM integrated management Consoleùan intuitive point-and-click interface allows for remote configuration, management, and diagnostics.

ATTO is now shipping its new ExpressSAS SAS/SATA RAID adapter featuring DVRAIDTM that provides parity protection in high-bandwidth environments. This family provides SAS/SATA II connectivity and delivers blazing-fast 3-GB/second per port performance for IT and digital media users requiring the highest performance SAS RAID solutions. It is the industry's only low-profile line of adapters offering user selectable port configuration options.

Providing advanced fault-tolerant features that include hot swap, hot spares, online capacity expansion, battery back-up, and optimized disk utilization for SAS/SATA or SATA II drives or any combination, the ATTO ExpressSAS R348 and R380 adapters deliver an intelligent and robust RAID solution.

These low-profile adapters support standard RAID levels 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 and feature ATTO's exclusive DVRAID, making them capable of handling the most demanding applications such as 2K and 4K film, multiple layers of complex, uncompressed real-time effects, and high definition video editing.

"Storage Networking World provides us the opportunity to demonstrate how ATTO solutions support high-bandwidth and data protection applications in a multitude of environments. The multiple product displays showcase how ATTO storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions simplify IT and digital media workflow while ensuring protection of critical and expensive data," said Ed Tierney, director of marketing for ATTO Technology, Inc.

The complete set of infrastructure solutions at SNW Spring 2007 includes:

  • 4-GB PCIe and PCI-X Fibre Channel Host Adapters
  • Ultra 320 PCIe SCSI Host Adapters
  • 4-GB Fibre Channel-to-SCSI Bridges
  • iSCSI Bridges
  • Storage Controller Appliances

ATTO continues to be the only host adapter and controller manufacturer that fully supports the industry's most popular and fastest growing operating systems, the company says. This includes support for the latest Linux, Microsoft Vista and Macintel/OS X operating systems.
