Advances in VMware View allow the company's supported thin clients to have enhanced USB device compatibility, including expanded access to USB printers and scanners.

10ZiG Technology (www.10zig.com), developer of virtual desktop interface (VDI) thin clients today announced support for VMware View 4.6, which is currently available pre-installed on certain 10ZiG thin clients.

10ZiG provides support for VMware View 4.6 on its V-Series Thin Clients and V9000 Zero Client—energy-efficient, flexible, and powerful end-point devices optimized for VMware.

VMware View 4.6 is the latest version of VMware's View virtual desktop solution offering a host of new features to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

VMware View 4.6 highlights include the following:

  • PCoIP Security Server
  • USB device compatibility enhancements
  • Enhanced keyboard mapping
  • New and improved timeout settings for SSO users
  • Important bug fixes that continue to improve the performance and robustness of the product
  • Support for Win 7 SP1 RC (experimental)

“We are as excited as our customers for the long awaited availability of VMware View 4.6 with the enhanced USB device compatibility that will improve the use of USB scanners and add to the list of available USB printers that can be used with 10ZiG thin clients.” says Martin Pladgeman, president, 10ZiG Technology. “The ability to have a secure connection is also especially important for the mobile and remote user.”

This release will be available as a free upgrade to customers with a current VMware View support and subscription contract. Users should refer to the release notes for vSphere and View compatibility guidelines. 10ZiG’s VMware-ready thin clients are available for demo through 10ZiG, and a listing of those with support for VMware View 4.6 can be found within the online VMware Partner Product Catalog at http://wwwa.vmware.com/partnercatalog/catalog.
