Blogger obtains internal Oracle memo; company is mum, but memo attests to Oracle's plan to have a Solaris 11 binary distribution, called Solaris 11 Express, that will have a free developer right-to-use (RTU) license.

It appears that Oracle has ended Oracle's (Sun's) OpenSolaris project based on a blog posting late last week from Steven Stallion, a software engineer in Athens, Georgia. Stallion quotes what he says is an email sent internally to Oracle Solaris engineers that "describes Oracle's true intentions toward the OpenSolaris project and the future of Oracle Solaris." MC Press Online contacted Oracle public relations, and a spokesperson said, "We're not commenting at this time on something that was an internal memo." Is it a spoof, we asked? "No comment," she said. Here is the link to Stallion's blog.
