Elaine Lennox, former VP of Marketing at IBM, will take over as chief marketing officer, and Curt DiSibio, a high tech finance expert, will help shape strategy for the company's future financial course.

Zend Technologies, the PHP Company, today announced the appointments of Elaine Lennox as chief marketing officer (CMO), and Curt DiSibio as chief financial officer (CFO). The appointments of Lennox and DiSibio bring further depth and breadth of experience to Zend’s management team as the company intensifies its push into the enterprise with new web, cloud and mobile solutions for agile application development, deployment and management.

Elaine Lennox Appointed Zend CMO

As CMO, Elaine Lennox leverages successful marketing leadership and market development experience with IBM and Hewlett-Packard—including cloud, enterprise datacenter and community-building initiatives—to guide Zend’s marketing strategy, market development and go-to-market activities for Zend’s worldwide operations.

Elaine joins Zend from IBM, where as vice president of Marketing she led the planning of significant product launches and marketing and sales enablement activities for IBM’s Systems and Technology Group. Recent successes include the 2010 launch of new lines of Unix and mainframe systems, leading to the most significant growth in IBM systems revenues in over a decade, including mainframe systems growth of 69 percent in 4Q 2010.*

[Elaine Lennox spoke with Chris Smith, MC Press Online, senior news editor, and said she decided to leave IBM and go with Zend Technologies because she sees Zend as having a "huge potential with the advent of the Cloud and the five million PHP programmers who will need Zend's products and services in the coming decade and beyond." She said that she will continue to work closely with her colleagues at IBM who, for several years, have been co-developing software with Zend for running PHP middleware on IBM servers. She indicated the relationship between Zend and IBM will continue to grow in the coming months and years as Zend expands its markets beyond North America and Europe and on into Asia.]

Elaine’s previous roles at IBM included vice president of Marketing for the System i family of offerings, with responsibility for growing and nurturing the community of ISVs, partners and user groups. She also led marketing for IBM’s small and medium business unit, helping to transform it into the fastest growing piece of IBM's business, and served as VP of Sales and Marketing for IBM WebFountain, an emerging growth business focused on advanced data analytics.

Prior to that, Elaine directed marketing for Whistle Communications, which became the leading SMB market provider of Internet appliances and services before its acquisition by IBM. Previously, she held various product management roles at Hewlett Packard. A native of Scotland, Elaine holds a Bachelors of Science from Aston Business School in England.

Curt DiSibio Appointed Zend CFO

As CFO, Curt DiSibio manages all financial and operations aspects of Zend’s global business. Curt brings to his role more than two decades of successful management of high tech companies from startup and high growth through IPO phases–including expertise in SaaS and cloud business models.

Curt joins Zend from Integral Development Corp., a Foreign Exchange trading software company, where as CFO he managed finance, operations and human resources functions. Previously, Curt was CFO of data integration software maker Acta Technology, where he led a $25 Million private financing which was followed by Acta’s sale to Business Objects. Prior to that, Curt served as CFO and COO of Saratoga Systems, Inc., a CRM software company.  Earlier, as CFO and founding member of InVision Technologies, Inc., he led a successful IPO and a secondary public offering, after which InVision was acquired by General Electric. Curt previously served as CFO of ELXSI, and as a CPA for Hemming Morse, Inc. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Azusa Pacific University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

"We are pleased to have Elaine and Curt on our team," said Andi Gutmans, Zend CEO and co-founder.  "They have vision, energy and proven ability to deliver results based on their career successes in key marketing, operations and financial leadership roles. Zend is on a growth trajectory, and with significant opportunities ahead of us for new categories of web applications, cloud computing and enterprise mobility, we expect to benefit significantly from both Elaine’s and Curt’s expertise."

"This is a pivotal time in the market, with great opportunities for Zend’s further growth," said Lennox. "In some ways, the company has just scratched the surface of what it can achieve, with 40,000 customers and amazing successes at organizations such as NYSE Euronext, GE and BNP Paribas that have chosen Zend Server to run business-critical PHP applications. We want the corporate world to know what these companies have already learned: Zend offers technology, community, and the ability to partner effectively to create and deploy next-generation web and cloud applications."

"Zend’s solid business model, market leadership and momentum are driving the company’s growth," said DiSibio."We intend to capitalize on these strengths and continue to grow our worldwide business with increasingly productive partnerships and larger, longer-term commitments from enterprise customers."
