Proximity and Shield Advanced Solutions have announced a partnership to market and support HA4i, Shield’s premier high availability solution for the IBMi in the UK and Ireland.

Based in Leeds and Nottingham, Proximity has over 40 experts that develop, deliver and maintain solutions and applications for companies in the logistics, manufacturing, retail and finance sectors, with a particular specialism in IBMi modernisation and development products and services.

Founded in 1997, Shield provides high availability and disaster recovery solutions for the IBM i. Installed in many high profile and demanding IBMi environments, HA4i is a flexible application that is easy to install and configure, delivering excellent return on investment.

HA4i enables organisations to replicate their business-critical system data and objects between different systems using remote journal technology. Shield is constantly improving the product through customer feedback and by taking advantage of the very latest technology from IBM and the IBM i.

Dave Pickburn, director at Proximity said: “We are delighted to become Shield’s partner in the UK and Ireland. The partnership has been grown from a practical requirement for a premium high availability solution for our IBM i-based delivery and transport management application, STREAM. Following an exhaustive search across a number of solutions partners, we selected HA4i to meet our own needs. It was a natural step to then become a Shield partner and provide value-added services to new and existing customers alike”.

“Partnering with Shield compliments existing relationships in the IBMi space with Fresche, Raz-Lee Security and for Infor’s IBM i-based LX and BPCS ERPs” added Pickburn.

Chris Hird, Shield’s President said: “We are delighted to have Proximity join our distributor team. The partnership will further enhance our position within the UK and Ireland IBMi community for high availability solutions through Proximity’s expertise and knowledge in the IBMi environment.”
