One of the largest IBM Business Partners in Japan will take looksoftware's legacy modernization message to Japanese businesses.

looksoftware today announced the appointment of SOLPAC Co. Ltd. as its master reseller for Japan, the second largest IT market in the world after the U.S.

looksoftware, a leader in application modernization, and SOLPAC, one of the largest and most successful IBM Business Partners in Japan, entered into the new relationship at the end of last year.

looksoftware is known for its success in releasing the hidden value in legacy software applications that contain many years of proven business rules and processes, according to the company. Its software tools promote the retention and reuse of core business systems running on IBM servers without the cost, risk and disruption of replacing or rewriting such systems, the company says. Using these tools, companies can update their user interface, extend access to remote and mobile users and create Web services for communicating with trading partners.

Marcus Dee, CEO of looksoftware said, “We look forward to helping SOLPAC emulate the success our products have had in the other major global markets. SOLPAC has strong application modernization expertise and a skilled services organization to help customers and ISVs successfully roll out our technologies quickly.”

Tsutomu Fujita, CEO of SOLPAC added, "SOLPAC is pleased to form this relationship with looksoftware and its highly regarded modernization solutions. Many Japanese companies are searching for ways to upgrade their legacy systems but have tight budgets due to the economic slowdown. We believe looksoftware's emphasis on reuse of existing assets with extensions and enhancements will be well received by corporate IT managers in Japan. We intend to demonstrate how easily this can be done with a series of marketing events in the coming year."
