System i Developer, the consortium of top educators on IBM i development technologies, today announces two events at the upcoming RPG & DB2 Summit conference that are designed to arm attendees with the skills, information, and confidence to advocate for IBM i within their own shops.

First, IBM's Steve Will, Chief Architect of the IBM i Operating System, will deliver the Keynote Address with the theme of "Why i?" on Tuesday, October 23. He will explore current trends and directions – with a special focus on social media information — as well as provide real-life examples of how companies have successfully leveraged IBM i. He will also share information from recent studies on Total Cost of Ownership and Acquisition, offering tips on how to make difficult-to-measure benefits, such as Integration, memorable to management.

Will's keynote will be followed on Wednesday, October 24 by a Roundtable Discussion led by Michael Cain, senior member of IBM's DB2 for i Center of Excellence, who will explore tactics for communicating this knowledge effectively.

According to Cain, the Roundtable Discussion will focus on what, why, when, where and how to "talk smart" about IBM i and DB2. He will share his methods, strategies and war stories, as well as model good advocacy skills. He will also facilitate an open discussion on how individuals can position themselves to effectively advocate for IBM i and articulate the value that THEY provide in concert with the proper information technology tools and techniques.

To support the information learned during these two events, System i Developer will provide take-away materials, including a list of pre-vetted resources where attendees can find management-level information to support the use of IBM i.

The RPG & DB2 Summit will be held October 23-25 at the Sofitel in Minneapolis, with four Headstart Seminars offered in the same location on Monday, October 22.
