Manta's combination packages have always represented the best value in quality IBM i education, saving customers 30-50% off the cost of purchasing courses individually. Today, Manta is pleased to announce its first combo pack reorganization in over ten years. The result of this reorganization is twofold. First, we have added additional courses to three of the existing combo packs. Second, two new combo packs are now available.
In the past, most of Manta's programming students were experienced midrange professionals who needed to upgrade their skills to include ILE programming, RPG IV, and other modern programming techniques. Today, more and more students are new hires with no previous midrange experience. Because of this, Manta has added the five-course Introduction to the IBM i Environment series to the core programming combination packs, which include
- the Program Development Combination Pack,
- the RPG Development Combination Pack, and
- the COBOL Development Combination Pack.
We also added the Using Rational Developer for Power Systems (RDP) series to the RPG and COBOL packages because the decision to use RDP is no longer an option in many shops, but the installation's required program development tool.
Customers who have licenses for any of these packages will now see the new series in their course menus. As has always been the case when we add to an existing package, customers will get free use of the courses until the end of their existing license terms (an $864 value). At their next renewal, most customers will pay only $195 for the eight additional courses.
Two new combinations packages are also being added to Manta's offerings. The DB2, SQL, and Query Combination Pack contains the following 15 database programming courses and exams:
- the Working with DB2 Databases series
- the Using Structured Query Language (SQL) series
- Using Query Manager
- Using i5/OS Query
- Getting Started with Web Query
A one-year, single-user license for this package is $1,260.
The new IBM i User Combination Pack includes the following 16 courses and exams for end-users and managers:
- the Introduction to the IBM i Environment series
- the Using System i Access series
- Using Query Manager
- Using i5/OS Query
- Getting Started with Web Query
- eBusiness: from HTML to WebSphere
A one-year, single-user license for this package is $1,360.
You can check out the new offerings by visiting www.mantatech.com, where you can also take the first session of any of Manta's 117 courses and Competency Exams for free.
Business users want new applications now. Market and regulatory pressures require faster application updates and delivery into production. Your IBM i developers may be approaching retirement, and you see no sure way to fill their positions with experienced developers. In addition, you may be caught between maintaining your existing applications and the uncertainty of moving to something new.
IT managers hoping to find new IBM i talent are discovering that the pool of experienced RPG programmers and operators or administrators with intimate knowledge of the operating system and the applications that run on it is small. This begs the question: How will you manage the platform that supports such a big part of your business? This guide offers strategies and software suggestions to help you plan IT staffing and resources and smooth the transition after your AS/400 talent retires. Read on to learn:
