SkyView Partners and Innovatum announced an alliance this week to leverage the synergies in their products, SkyView Policy Minder and Innovatum's DataThread.

Policy Minder is a security policy compliance management tool for i5/OS and OS/400 that helps companies stay in compliance with their own security policies. The need for a practical implementation of security policy that governs data security has become a large issue for most corporations. SkyView Policy Minder is a tool that replaces what has been a largely manual process normally deployed to solve the issue of security compliance management on the System i.

DataThread is a premiere database and system audit tool that dynamically monitors activity which is of internal or regulatory compliance significance, while discarding millions of normal routine transactions, the company says.

The integration of Policy Minder and DataThread will enable a 360-degree view of the System i with active, real-time enforcement of corporate and regulatory policy at the most granular level possible, the companies said. It will provide proactive detection, capture, and correction. Several integration points have already been established and can be implemented out of the box.

"Government regulations and standards from Sarbanes Oxley to VISA PCI to ISO 270001 have focused a lot of light on the issue of adherence to corporate security policy standards, and auditors want to know what your policy is and how you have implemented it on platforms like the System i," said Carol Woodbury, president of SkyView Partners Inc. "We are pleased to add DataThread from Innovatum to our policy enforcement capabilities. As a proven product and company, this new partnership will allow for greater levels of policy enforcement within the organization."

"The System i has some of the best capabilities for compliance and audit; but the organization must activate the appropriate settings and security levels," said Ardi Batmanghelidj, president of Innovatum. "Carol Woodbury is a preeminent security expert who has simplified this process to a manageable level and automated the activity with Policy Minder," he said. "We are delighted to be working with the folks at SkyView to provide the System i community with a complete compliance and audit solution.
