Oracle releases JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Express Installation for for IBM i on Power Systems. 

Momentum continues to build around IBM i Solution Editions, which help both IBM and participating ISVs lower the cost, risk, and complexity of deploying core business solutions.

IBM is partnering with industry leading ISVs to deliver business value for both new and existing IBM i clients, the company announced. IBM i Solution Edition partners have optimized their solutions for IBM's new POWER7 systems in a variety of ways.

  • As part of this partnering, Oracle recently announced an express installation tool for JD Edwards Enterprise Edition for IBM i on Power Systems.
  • The install offering is called EnterpriseOne Express Installation for IBM i on Power Systems and is immediately available.
  • JD Edwards remains a critical partner for IBM in the i space. The new offering signals a significant investment by Oracle JD Edwards, delivers tangible business benefit to IBM clients, and supports IBM's investment in the i Solution Edition program, according to IBM.

Oracle describes the new implantation this way: "An alternative to the traditional installation process, Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Express Installation for IBM i on Power Systems enables you to rapidly implement a fully functioning JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system in just days. Powered by Oracle Universal Installer, it provides all the scripts necessary to automatically install the needed components of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, including Deployment Server and Change Assistant."

A key tenet of the IBM i Solution Edition program is customer ease of use, and the JDE installation tool is optimized to work with IBM POWER7 technology, the IBM i 7.1 operating system, and WebSphere middleware, according to IBM.
