The release will allow customers to deploy UNIT4 CODA’s best-of-class financial application on a wide array of cost- and energy-efficient Power Systems servers.

UNIT4 CODA, provider of financial management software, today announced the availability of CODA Financials on IBM i 7.1. The release will allow customers to deploy UNIT4 CODA’s best- of-class financial application on a wide array of cost- and energy-efficient IBM POWER7 processor-based systems announced recently by IBM.

Known for its integration capabilities, CODA Financials runs natively on IBM i and DB2, and easily integrates with other business applications. This means organizations with applications written in RPG, COBOL, and/or Java-based applications can create real time interaction between those applications and CODA Financials using CODA web services, all while running on one hardware platform.

“CODA Financials on IBM i 7.1 is an ideal solution for companies needing a world-class accounting system that can interoperate with a variety of vertical or custom applications,” said Steve Pugh, CEO of UNIT4 CODA. “In the current economy, many companies need to upgrade their financial systems without taking a “rip-and-replace” approach to all their applications and their whole computing environment.  The combination of CODA Financials running on i 7.1 and the latest IBM POWER7- based systems is a pragmatic and cost effective way to deliver business applications.”

UNIT4 CODA has a long history of developing financial software specifically for the i--including a very loyal community of customers that have been using CODA Financials since the original version on the AS/400. “I am pleased that UNIT4 CODA has certified its products to run on the latest version of IBM i 7.1 so quickly,” said Roxanne Reynolds-Lair, CIO of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. “This is a clear indication of UNIT4 CODA’s continued commitment to the platform and its desire to be identified as the industry standard accounting system for users of the IBM i. FIDM has had a long and successful partnership with CODA and as a committed IBM user, being able to run its products on the latest IBM technology has given FIDM a great advantage in the area of financial and business processes.”

“This commitment to both the platform and its users is what makes UNIT4 CODA the leading financial software vendor for the IBM i,” said Pete Massiello, president, iTech Solutions. “I normally undertake one to two upgrade projects every week, and I come across various vendors who have yet to support the current release of the operating system.  It’s good to know that the company that iTech Solutions recommends for financial software to its customers is ready and supporting the current release of IBM i and that they can combine the technology they love with the best financials package on the market.”
