Jelastic, Inc., the company behind the scalable and interoperable cloud hosting platform for Java and PHP applications, has launched its Beta with partner Planeetta Internet Oy, one of Northern Europe's major hosting providers. Jelastic is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that runs any Java or PHP application with no lock-in or code changes required.

"We´ve been seeing a lot of interest in Finland for Jelastic, following our recent launches with in the US, Russia, Germany, UK, and Japan," said Jelastic COO Dmitry Sotnikov. "Our vision is to provide the world's first global PaaS that is standards-based and doesn´t put limitations on developers or their code. Now, we're available in Finland."

Jelastic is unlike other PaaS offerings in that it is available through a global network of hosting service providers, allowing developers to find the right hosting option for their region. Jelastic is the first cloud host that enables applications to be deployed in minutes instead of hours, without code changes, and no need to write for specific APIs. Developers pick and choose which stack components they need, and Jelastic auto-scales their applications automatically.

"Jelastic makes it easy and efficient to host Java and PHP sites and applications. You simply deploy your code to the cloud, and leave the server administration to Jelastic," said Lauri Kasti, CEO of Planeetta Internet. "We are thrilled to have Jelastic´s PaaS installed in our data center, which will enable cloud services for our Finnish customers that are unable to host overseas because of strict data protection laws."

Jelastic is fully compatible with all major Java software stacks, including Tomcat, GlassFish, and Jetty application servers - as well as with SQL (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, CouchDB) databases. For PHP, Jelastic allows developers to use or switch between any PHP version, access configuration files and change settings, and choose either Apache or NGINX. Every key PHP extension is available, and developers can download and add additional modules easily.

Jelastic is currently available commercially in the US with ServInt, in Russia with Rusonyx, in Germany with dogado, in the UK with Layershift, in Japan with Tsukaeru, and now, in Finland with Planeetta. Finnish developers can try Jelastic immediately at www.planeetta.net/jelastic.
