IBM PureApplication Service on SoftLayer allows clients to quickly deploy and manage lifecycle of enterprise workloads in a dedicated and isolated cloud environment. It provides hybrid cloud capability in conjunction with PureApplication System.
PureApplication Service on SoftLayer includes the following new capabilities:
- Same workload deployment and lifecycle management capabilities of PureApplication System
- Pattern engine and deployment
- Compatibility with all Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based patterns or Microsoft Windows-based patterns
- Autoscaling, workload monitoring, and caching
- IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS) support
- Advanced license management capability
- Improved reporting, chargeback, and auditing
- Enhanced user and group management
- Cloud resource management (cloud groups, IP groups, and environment profiles)
- Block storage
- Ability to back up and restore of system and catalog
- Purchase and provision PureApplication Service and patterns by using the on-demand, self-service portal
- Flexible payment models
Additional enhancements include:
- Cloud Zones to enable workload isolation and sub-capacity licensing in PureApplication Service
- New 8-core and 16-core instances with increased memory
