Turnkey cloud solution eliminates cost and time-to-market barriers, gives MSPs international customer reach.

Asigra Inc., a cloud backup and recovery software provider since 1986, has announced a strategic relationship with infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider, 6fusion. The arrangement allows managed service providers (MSPs) to radically improve their time to market and limit up-front capital costs by leveraging 6fusion’s cloud infrastructure to host and deliver cloud backup services worldwide.

6fusion’s IaaS platform, called UC6, allows MSPs to provide cloud-based backup services without the need to invest in data center hardware while still owning the backup data vault license and customer accounts. Using the Asigra Cloud Backup platform in conjunction with 6fusion allows service providers to leverage the efficiencies of cloud computing that provides flexible and affordable backup services to any size organization from small businesses to the world’s largest distributed enterprises with mobile workforces. Built for the technology and performance demands of modern IT infrastructures, Asigra Cloud Backup is also uniquely aligned to deliver on the promise of cloud computing with greater efficiency, simplicity and price/performance compared to traditional solutions.

UC6 allows MSPs anywhere on the planet to tap into the utility, build servers, and scale applications internally or externally from a single console over the internet. UC6 leverages 6fusion's proprietary Workload Allocation Cube (WAC) algorithm that provides dramatic simplification of metering, consumption, and billing across cloud-based CPU, network, and storage resources, providing the most granular and universal metric for metering and delivering cloud computing on the market today. MSPs can host their Asigra backup vaults from one or more of 6fusion’s federated data centers in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean, extending their national and international customer coverage.

“Becoming part of the Asigra ecosystem is a huge endorsement for 6fusion as it validates our platform with one of the largest backup service provider networks in the industry,” said Simon Momber, vice president, Business Development at 6fusion. “The UC6 cloud infrastructure combined with Asigra Cloud Backup software gives MSPs a premier solution that seamlessly provides the hardware infrastructure, metering, billing services, and global data protection without the time delays or capital costs of building out their own data center.”

The UC6 platform can be deployed as a private cloud inside a customer data center or as a public cloud. The public-private cloud support is tightly integrated with Asigra Cloud Backup, which is built on a hybrid cloud deployment model, giving users the freedom to backup to a public cloud for offsite recovery, a private cloud for onsite recovery, or a hybrid of the two. This allows organizations to meet specific company data residency requirements to meet regulatory compliance and/or security requirements to protect personally identifiable information (PII).

e-ternity Business Continuity Consultants Inc., a Mississauga, Ontario-based MSP, has established its Asigra-Powered cloud backup service, called e-ternity RecoveryCentre, on the 6fusion cloud infrastructure. According to Greg Onoprijenko, managing director of business development at e-ternity, “The combination of Asigra and 6fusion technologies has enabled us to tap into the true potential of the cloud and deliver on-demand, state-of-the-art computing and data protection services without the traditional capital expense barriers that have kept these services beyond the reach of most businesses.”

“Companies worldwide are increasingly moving their IT operations to the cloud based on the superior cost, efficiency, and elasticity to access on-demand computing resources without capital costs,” said Ashar Baig, senior director of product marketing for Asigra. “6fusion and e-ternity have demonstrated the value of a true cloud-based backup and recovery infrastructure that offers compelling backup and storage efficiencies unavailable with traditional backup architectures, allowing users to protect more while managing and paying less.”
