New release adds enhanced monitoring to continuous data protection solution.

Vision Solutions has announced enhancements to EchoStream, the company’s AIX real-time disaster recovery solution, and is offering an attractive trial program on the software.

EchoStream 3.5 protects data through real-time replication, providing rapid data recovery in the event of software corruption, virus attack, deleted files or other causes of data loss. When combined with Vision‘s EchoCluster for AIX cluster-management solution, businesses can reap the benefits of rapid, automated failover to an alternate local or remote server.

Performance and automation enhancements are loaded into EchoStream 3.5 including:

  • Vision RightTime CDP for flexible, “any-point-in-time” recovery–one of the most flexible recovery point options on the market
  • Vision TimeView for improved productivity—use the disaster recovery server for R&D, testing, reporting and training or run backups on replicated data
  • Vision AutoGuard for automatic notification and self-correction—enhanced monitoring provides visual indicators of system health
  • Vision IntelliStart for easy installation and optimized configuration—getting started is easy with GUI-driven processes

“The EchoStream enhancements offer great value and peace of mind for AIX customers seeking an easy-to-use and affordable backup solution,” says Henry Martinez, Vision Solutions senior vice president of engineering. “Version 3.5 is far more than a disaster recovery solution – Vision RightTime CDP easily integrates into AIX environments, protects critical applications and allows real-time access to the backup data through Vision TimeView.”

When it was time for a hardware and software upgrade, Skagit County Government in Mount Vernon, Wash., evaluated alternatives that would provide high availability for its public safety system. The county looked at a number of options, but most of them involved UNIX clustering technology, which was more complex than they wanted. Skagit County selected EchoStream, which runs on AIX. This was one element in the County’s decision to switch to the AIX operating system and IBM hardware.

“Vision’s EchoStream is exactly what we needed. It gave us all of the features and functions we wanted. And the fact that I was able to install it myself… it just blows me away how simple it was. All of the other products we looked at were much more complicated and expensive,” says Ryan Johns, application administrator, Skagit County government.

Vision Solutions is currently offering a free trial program of its unique software EchoStream. The limited-time offer can be quickly installed so users may begin immediately.
