Webinar will outline research findings and insights from 3,500 IT professionals.

Vision Solutions, a leading high availability and disaster recovery solutions provider in IBM Power Systems markets, has announced its second annual “State of Resilience” report, a detailed overview of disaster recovery expectations, technologies and the overall state of resilience among IBM Power Systems users. The report is based on a year-long study including survey data from more than 3,500 technical professionals and executives involved with the management of IBM i (i5/OS) and AIX environments on IBM Power Systems.

“This report clearly demonstrates the urgency for companies of all sizes to ensure they have an effective data protection and business continuity plan in place,” says Edward Vesely, Vision Solutions’ senior vice president of marketing. “Such strategy undoubtedly involves the right combination of high availability, systems management and disaster recovery solutions; however, many firms still lack the appropriate technologies to meet their overall objectives.”

According to Vesely, the report explains how a range of business resiliency and optimization technologies benefit businesses of all sizes – from the emerging SMB to the multinational enterprise.

Several notable findings emerging from the survey include:

  • A trend toward even more aggressive recovery time and recovery point objectives across the platform – both IBM i and AIX
  • Many firms do not have appropriate technologies in place to meet their recovery objectives
  • Investment in disaster recovery technologies have outpaced High Availability
  • Continuous Data Protection (CDP) “data rewind” capabilities are gaining support across companies of all size

"We encourage all businesses to implement a progressive IT strategy for planned and unplanned downtime, which can cost companies millions of dollars per year," said Mark Shearer, IBM Systems & Technology Group’s vice president of marketing, communications and sales support. "To minimize those costs, it is imperative that companies implement proven high availability and disaster recovery solutions that protect critical business applications from outages, both planned and unplanned."

Vision Solutions and IBM will host a free “State of IBM Power Systems Technology and Resilience” webcast Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. EST.
