Shield Advanced Solutions announces Version 2 of its Receiver Apply Program (RAP)—journal receiver apply program for the System i.

Achieve fast apply rates, the company says, since RAP utilizes the best IBM technology to its advantage, resulting in an efficient, affordable solution for data protection and disaster recovery for the System i. Aimed primarily for SMB market, RAP is robust enough for use within any size organization.

Recent tests on a low-end i515 have seen in excess of 30 million transactions per hour. Role switches can be achieved in less than five minutes, the company says.

New features in RAP V2 include:

  • Object and profile replication
  • Object and file auditing
  • Switch process now built into the product
  • Improved configuration

This latest level interacts directly with Shield’s JobQGenie product, the only solution for the replication of Job Queue data to the remote system.

RAP can be installed and configured in less than one day. Pricing for the base module is $5,000; Option 1 module (object and profile replication and auditing) is $2,500.

A free 30-day, no-hassle software trial is available. Product installation allows immediate use without a security key. For product literature and more information, visit www.shield.on.ca. Shield Advanced Solutions (Canada) Ltd is an IBM Advanced Business Partner.
