Shield Advanced Solutions, Ltd., an IBM Advanced Business Partner, has enhanced its increasingly popular data protection and disaster recovery program, RAP, with several new features and at the same time opened a sales office in California.

RAP utilizes IBM technology to its advantage, resulting in an efficient, affordable solution for data protection and disaster recovery for the System i. Aimed primarily for SMB market, RAP is robust enough for use within any size organization, according to Shield.

New features in RAP V2.1 include:

·         Full support for Version 5.3 i5/OS

·         Improved object and profile replication

·         Data repair during data auditing

The latest release interacts directly with Shield's JobQGenie product, the only solution for the replication of Job Queue data to the remote system, according to Shield. RAP can be installed and configured in less than one day.

Pricing for the base module is $5,000. Pricing for the Option 1 module (object and profile replication and auditing) is $2,500. A free 30-day software trial is available, and installation allows immediate use without a security key.

Due to an increase in sales activity, Shield has opened a sales office on the West Coast to offer more effective support for customers in the western US and Canada, the company said.

According to owner Chris Hird, "Since announcing Shield's RAP (Receiver Apply Program) product, we have seen an increase in product inquiries across the board. Of particular interest are the RAP V2.1 with full support of Version 5.3 i5OS and Shield's interrelated product JobQGenie. Having personnel available on the west coast allows us to better support inquiries that originate from the West Coast time zone. As demand dictates we will continue to add more resources to service other time zones."
