ProData Computer Services, Inc., makers of the flagship product DBU and long-time IBM i software vendor, announces the new release of DBU RDi, a plug-in for Rational Developer for i. DBU RDi enables developers to directly access files using DBU in graphical form and execute DBU functions from within the Rational Development environment. The new plug-in is available on the ProData website.

DBU RDi allows database access directly through the Rational Developer for i Remote Systems Explorer (RSE) panel. The plug-in allows developers a graphical way to research database content, display data in hexadecimal format or reactivate deleted records plus many more database functions.

DBU , the first database utility to offer access to IBM i DB2 data thru multiple methods under one umbrella, continues to transcend the boundaries of a typical ‘file editor’. Users have the choice between a DBU/GUI(client), the traditional green screen version(server) and now the newly released DBU RDi plug-in. Using any of these interfaces, a user can improve productivity by easily accessing database files for research, file maintenance or other services they need to get their job done while significantly reducing time and cost.

With this addition, ProData continues to offer a feature-rich database utility that loyal followers have come to expect. The performance & functionality of DBU continues to provide quick and easy access to all information about and contained within the database. ProData continues to offer high-quality, competitively priced products for the IBM i world. “We listen to our customers and give them what they ask for. It took a little time for our customers to get into Rational Developer for i, but they've come around and are ready for our plug-in“, said Allen Hartley, owner and CEO of ProData. DBU RDi complements other ProData productivity tools for the IBM i and can be packaged with ProData’s many other programmer utilities.
