New Generation Software (NGS) has recently announced Decision Assist-Financial Performance, a new financial analytics solution for IBM System i customers and ISVs that want to modernize and streamline their financial reporting and analysis processes without having to move their general ledger (G/L) data off the System i.

The solution, developed with NGS' business intelligence application development tools, integrates with and enhances the presentation of DB2 data through the use of Adobe Flash and Microsoft Office software. It includes a Web portal, financial performance dashboards, multi-dimensional models, Excel spreadsheets and reports, all built over a DB2 data mart on the System i. Decision Assist-Financial Performance supports i5/OS V5R1 and above.

NGS offers a fully-integrated version of Decision Assist-Financial Performance to users of the company's Concert Series G/L software. Training is available to help System i customers and ISVs link the solution to other System i-based G/L applications. NGS will introduce Decision Assist-Financial Performance to System i users in a Webinar July 19th.

Decision Assist-Financial Performance dashboards include:

  • Income statement by revenue, gross profit, selling expenses, G and A expenses, operating income, and net income
  • YTD trial balance by organization, account, and month
  • Actual vs. budget by organization, account, and month; actual vs. budget
  • Cash flow from operations, investments, and financing
  • Non-cash deductions from Income
  • Changes in operating assets and liabilities
  • Balance sheet ratios including current, quick, debt to asset, cash, debt by month

Reports that output to Excel spreadsheets, NGS-IQ's OLAP module, PDF, HTML, and more include monthly balance sheet, cash flow, income, and trial balance; actual vs. budget by month, by quarter; comparative income statement; and account analysis by period.

"We know many companies would like to reduce the time they spend assembling financial reports each period and improve the quality and reliability of what they present to their board, investors, employees, and auditors. With Decision Assist-Financial Performance, they can achieve those goals," explains Bernard Gough, CEO and president of New Generation Software.

Companies with SOX, HIPAA, PCI, or other compliance concerns, can license NGS' IQ SeQure security management system with Decision Assist-Financial Performance to give them control over data access at the field and record level by user. This module also enables a customer to block specific users from functions such as FTP, e-mail, and downloading data to Windows.

With over 20,000 iSeries users across the globe, NGS has been an industry leader since 1982 in developing high performance, field-proven business intelligence and financial management software for midrange users. Both NGS-IQ Business Intelligence and the Concert Series Financial Management System are recognized by IBM as IBM ServerProven Solutions. NGS is an Advanced Member of IBM PartnerWorld and a member of the System i Initiative for Innovation.
