There's only one day left in Bytware's i5virus promotion, the online mystery game that puts players on the trail of cyber criminals that have cracked System i security.

Launched in October at the COMMON Focus in Columbus, i5virus has proven to be quite popular within the System i community, according to Bytware. More than 1,000 users have watched the YouTube video that launches players into the game. Shot on location in Tokyo, the YouTube video takes viewer-players along for the ride as investigators uncover the first clue.

The story opens with Silic Financial, a leading financial services provider, being hit by a major breach of security in which malicious code, dubbed the "i5virus" by investigators, was used to facilitate the attack. Authorities have called upon you, the viewer, to lead the global investigation.

But i5virus is more than just a game; it's an awareness campaign produced by System i software developer Bytware, Inc. to help you learn more about security risks and the use of PHP on System i. Along the way, players have fun interacting with a unique game site from which they are sent to various Web sites to collect information. Sites visited include McAfee, IBM, Bytware, and php-security.org.
