SafeData, LLC, a technology company focused on helping companies protect their data, minimize downtime, and recover and restore data quickly, has announced that it has seen a dramatic increase in the demand for its virtual recovery service (SafeData/DR) for the System i and Windows platforms as a result of the weak economic climate.  In 2008, the company grew its SafeData/DR customer base by 125 percent, the company reported.

In the fourth quarter of 2008, SafeData signed a number of new virtual recovery clients, including: Connecticut Water (Clinton, Conn.), Miller Electric Company (Jacksonville, Fla.), Southland National Insurance (Nashville, Tenn.), Warren Equities, Inc. (Providence R.I.) and the Women's League Community Residences (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

"In the past few months we have seen a significant increase in demand for our virtual recovery services," explained Peter Briggs, president of SafeData.  "Offered at the same price as traditional 'hot site' solutions, SafeData/DR is an affordable option for organizations looking to protect their data and their systems. With the ability to recover data in just 10 hours or less, the virtual recovery approach is the obvious choice for ensuring business continuity in today's 24/7 business world."

SafeData/DR's Recovery Service provides full restoration capabilities for clients in just hours. SafeData has a large inventory of System i and VM servers configured directly to its vaults via high speed LAN connections. The customer has VPN connectively to their data until their systems are restored. The company's Recovery Service also offers an option for bi-directional connectively and communication that takes the guesswork out of user access to the restored system.
