Tony Chavez, most recently technical support and professional services manager at ACOM, has been named vice president of operations of the company's eBusiness Division, Patrick McMahon, ACOM president and CEO, announced today.

Chavez joined ACOM in 1993 after receiving an associate's degree from ITT. He first worked in shipping and receiving and repaired laser printers and protocol converters. A year later, he returned to school, earning a B.S. in electronics and engineering in 1995 while continuing to work full time at the company.

When the company decided to explore opportunities in the Latin American market, he was named Latin America representative, where among other accomplishments, he acted as translator in a transaction that eventually led to sales of 600 MICR laser printers. In addition to Mexico, Chavez traveled to a number of Central and South American and Caribbean countries to set up distributorships.

Returning to the technical side, Chavez joined the professional services department as an implementer/trainer, subsequently becoming technical support manager as well as warehouse manager. Management of professional support was added to his responsibilities in 2008.

"Tony has always taken on more responsibility and he's never said no," McMahon said in making the announcement. "He continues to demonstrate his value to the company and to our customers on a daily basis and is obviously one of the most valuable members of our team.  It is a real pleasure to make this appointment and welcome him to our executive ranks."
