Seiden Group and System i Developer today announce that Scott Forstie, IBM’s Db2 for i Business Architect, will provide the keynote briefing at the next IBM i CIO Summit on October 1 and 2, 2018, in Chicago. The event is free to a limited number of CIOs and IT Directors who have responsibility for application development.

Forstie will meet with CIOs from industries such as insurance, finance, logistics, and manufacturing to discuss the future direction of Db2 for i. He will also invite participants to share examples of how they have already used IBM i database capabilities to drive application innovation. On October 2 he will present a more technical look at IBM i’s database in his talk Db2 for i - Strategy, Enhancements and more.

Hosted by IBM Champions Alan Seiden, Susan Gantner, Jon Paris, and Paul Tuohy, the CIO Summit provides a confidential setting for executive-level IT professionals to talk candidly about the challenges they face and to learn what works for their peers. By exchanging ideas on how to speed delivery of high quality business solutions, participants refine their vision and strategies for their IBM i applications.

Carl Novit, Vice President of FRS, attended the CIO Summit in Minneapolis. “The CIO Summit was relaxed and informative,” he reports. “I enjoyed the interaction with fellow professionals, seeing how they approached the challenges we all share. People actually listened to each other!”

The first day of the CIO Summit, held in the Aon Center in Chicago, will feature Forstie’s briefing and open discussions—facilitated by Seiden—on topics chosen by the group in advance. Conversation will be supplemented by brief talks on topics such as staffing and how to attract young developers.

On the optional second day, CIO guests can join their developers at the RPG & DB2 Summit free of charge. The October 2 agenda includes sessions on such topics as IBM i development strategies and direction; a roundtable discussion on Future-Proofing Your IBM i Investment with Jon Paris, Susan Gantner, Paul Tuohy, and Alan Seiden; time to network with other CIOs and Scott Forstie; and opportunities to socialize and brainstorm with their own developers in an environment where leading development experts can answer questions on the spot.

The CIO Summit is a free, by-invitation-only event. To request an invitation or nominate your CIO for the event, visit http://www.seidengroup.com/ibmi-cio-summit.
