The 2018 Mid-Atlantic Group of IBM i Collaborators User Conference, to be held November 12 – 14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, will embody its title, “Lead the Industry From Within,” by way of continuing education, peer networking, and highly relevant updates on leading-edge tools and procedures, programming languages, IBM i advancements and more.

Industry-leading speakers will include Doug Mack, a DB2 for i analytics consultant in IBM’s Power Systems Lab Services organization, as well as Larry Bolhuis, Charlie Guarino, Mike Pavlak and John Valance, all esteemed authorities in their respective IT and development realms.

MAGiC  is open to IBM i users worldwide to support its members with year-round online and in-person networking and educational opportunities. Primary goals, said its founder, Laura Hamway of Virginia Beach, include “instilling the understanding of how steadfastly powerful and increasingly relevant the IBM i platform has remained and continues to grow, and how integration of emerging and advancing tools, languages and APIs — including from open-source communities — strengthen the platform’s attributes and advance its evolution and, therefore, the evolution of the organizations that develop and operate on it.

“Ultimately,” Hamway continued, “MAGiC delivers insights and training designed to help us shift our thinking and approaches from reactive to proactive, from status-quo to visionary and from keeping up with the industry to leading from within it. The more knowledgeable, supported and equipped MAGiC members are, the better they can serve their own customers as software developers, vendors and IBM i professionals.”
