It offers a set of reports, alerts, and compliance templates that reduce the time needed to become PCI DSS compliant.

Bsafe Information Systems has announced the availability of the Bsafe/PCI Accelerator Package, an add-on module to Bsafe/Enterprise Security for IBM i 6.1 and Bsafe/Policy Compliance Manager. It provides a set of pre-defined reports, alerts and Policy Compliance Manager templates that reduce project timelines to accelerate compliance with PCI DSS.

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council (an organization formed by the credit card brands) created the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) to help merchants proactively protect customer account data. Any merchant or service provider that stores, processes or transmits customer account data must comply with the PCI DSS controls and processes. Organizations that do not comply risk costly fines, audit costs, card restrictions, and more should a breach happen to occur.

"Numerous companies have used Bsafe/Enterprise Security for IBM i to address PCI compliance requirements", says Shimon Bouganim, CEO of Bsafe Information Systems. "The Bsafe/Enterprise Security suite provides a complete solution for PCI compliancy," said Bouganim. "When supporting our customers in their implementation effort we noticed the need for additional out-of-the-box functionality to meet strict compliance deadlines. This is why we decided to develop the Bsafe/PCI Accelerator Package."

Reports in the PCI Accelerator Package can be easily copied, customized, categorized into policy groups and defined to run across multiple IBM i servers or partitions.

The PCI Alerts are SNMP enabled, allowing them to be forwarded to third-party software packages. In addition alerts can be set up as proactive triggers and react to undesirable transactions (for example, revoke special authority or disable user profile) or prompt the execution of a custom program.

The PCI Policy Compliance Manager templates can be set up to check for compliance across multiple systems or partitions. “Template based compliance management has emerged as a revolutionary methodology to achieve the complex task of enterprise-wide compliance. The use of this methodology provides for a consistent and systematic approach for creating and maintaining policies.” says Ty Karny, Bsafe vice president for North America. Bsafe templates allow system administrators, auditors and executives to utilize a shared interface to manage compliance policies, spot compliance deviations and enforce policies throughout the enterprise.  PCI compliance project timelines can be significantly improved by utilizing the pre-defined templates Bsafe provides. As a result companies can reduce resources allocated to support PCI auditors and the audit process.

The product was adopted rapidly, initially in Europe and then in the United States and beyond. Its unique GUI interface and comprehensive nature developed into the world-leading Bsafe/Enterprise Security product of today. The character of this and the company's other security and auditing products have been molded to a large degree by the ongoing waves of regulatory requirements issued since 2002 and the corporate obligations which have developed around them.

Furthermore, Bsafe's on-going development in security technology enables it to provide new and comprehensive, state-of-the-art solutions for its clients.

In 2002 Bsafe signed a multi-national agreement with IBM procurement for the reselling of Bsafe products and in 2004 the US sales office was established. Latest product developments include software for network security audit and multiple platforms incorporating combinations of IBM i, mainframe, Windows, SQL Server, AIX and Linux systems.

Our Vision

We have set a goal to help our customers secure their data and resources against the complex threats that face them in this modern hi-tech world.

To achieve this, we demand our products to adhere to the following principles:

  • Contribute to providing a global security solution for varied platforms. Enhance security from both internal (corporate network and intranet) and external (internet) threats.

  • Enable implementation without affecting existing customer business applications.

  • Provide a logical and intuitive interface for security management, maintenance and control.

With this in mind, we continue to expand our range of products to encompass new innovations and implementations of information technology.
