Robot, a division of HelpSystems and the systems management solution of choice for automating IBM i processes and applications, today announced the availability of a new version of their Robot/SCHEDULE job scheduling and batch management software. The release of version 12 introduces the much anticipated file event monitoring capability, which increases scheduling fluidity and flexibility by allowing Robot/SCHEDULE jobs to react to file and directory events.
The new event monitors can be set to watch for IFS file creation, removal, and growth, as well as physical file member changes, which are used to trigger jobs further down the job stream.
Setting up event monitors is quick and easy through the newly refreshed graphical interface in version 12, which features updated icons and fonts that respond to Windows OS settings. “Great for those of us with aging eyes,” jokes Jody Dahl, Software Development Manager, HelpSystems. “Really, we hope the refresh will encourage users to make the switch to GUI and take advantage of the product’s most robust scheduling options.”
Robot/SCHEDULE version 12 also includes additional reporting capabilities for event monitor parameters and history, as well as unused job reporting to identify jobs that are candidates for removal. The updated GUI uses Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version 1.7 for customers with security and compliance concerns.
Customers already using Robot/SCHEDULE can upgrade to this latest version to access the new features. HelpSystems offers a free, 30-day trial of Robot/SCHEDULE, which includes full product access and free support.
