Remain Software, a Netherlands-based software development company specializing in application lifecycle management, DevOps and more, announced today the establishment of an official U.S. division and the selection of Laura Hamway, owner of Hamway Software Solutions in Virginia Beach, to head it.

The decision to expand the physical presence of Remain, which was established in 1992 and serves clients throughout the world, aligns with the consistent growth of its customer base in the U.S., according to Marco Kok, Remain managing director.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to enhance and expand our service and support to our U.S. customers,” Kok said of the new U.S. division, to be headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va., approximately the midpoint along the East Coast. “It’s also an additional level of commitment, another step toward taking the best care possible of them,” he said, “and Laura is a natural fit.”

Hamway brings more than 25 years’ experience as an industry professional in software development and IT project- and client-management, training and consulting. She, like Remain, specializes in both the IBM i and multi-platform architecture, and she also runs the Mid-Atlantic Group of IBM i Collaborators, or MAGiC, users group.

Hamway said she’s proud to take the lead in the U.S.

“Having partnered with Remain for years to enhance my own company’s offerings, I’ve gleaned unique insight to, and first-hand experience with, the depth of knowledge and expertise by which Remain develops, delivers and supports the scope of tools and solutions that the market is, and will continue to be, demanding,” Hamway said. “And as protector of my own clients’ best interests, I have the utmost respect for how Remain has served those whose interests I have entrusted to them. I’m thrilled for this merging of our values, vision and expertise to further serve organizations and fellow IT professionals with the care and capabilities that they deserve as their businesses grow and their goals and needs evolve.”

Kok noted that customers will also benefit from Hamway’s ability to operate as both an active and well-connected industry professional and “a personable, straightforward and visionary client-service-oriented businesswoman.”

Wim Jongman, Remain co-managing partner and chief technology officer, said the company takes its 98-percent customer-happiness rate seriously, and Hamway is primed to help uphold the standard.

“Not only is she extremely skilled in the realms of programming and information technology,” Jongman said, “she also understands how to solve customers’ current problems and foresee their future needs. She knows what solutions are available now and what’s on the horizon, and her history of customizing intelligent and integrative solutions for optimal communication, productivity and stability speaks volumes. This is exactly who we are at Remain, exactly how we have worked for 26 years with diligence and integrity, and it’s with great pride and confidence that we welcome Laura to the team.”
