RPG & DB2 Summit Keynote Open to the Public

System i Developer announces today that Steve Will, IBM i Chief Architect, will deliver the RPG & DB2 Summit Keynote address in an online forum that will be freely open to the IBM i community on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at noon (EDT).

In IBM i Next Gen Apps - Directions for Developers of IBM i Software, he will detail what "IBM i Next Gen Applications" look like, shining headlights on the road ahead for software development. His briefing is designed to help IBM i teams envision future business needs so they can identify key skills to focus on within the broad, persistent learning curve they face with technology.

Will acknowledges that some IBM i teams still need to get past green screens to mobile or Web interfaces. “But you can’t just stop there now,” he says. “You have really got to prepare yourself for the next generation.”

In a companion session on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at noon (EDT), IBM i development experts Susan Gantner, Jon Paris, and Paul Tuohy will present Top 10 Skills for Today’s RPGers. They will take IBM i developers and their management through the top 10 skillsets practiced by most successful modern RPGers, explaining the importance of each, and providing resources to brush up on each topic.

Together, these two sessions can help developers and their management identify strategic priorities for application development as well as the skillsets their teams will require to implement those initiatives.

IBM i community members can register free to attend one or both briefings.

Starting Wednesday, October 20, 2021, the Virtual RPG & DB2 Summit kicks off five days of technical IBM i development training with practical, detailed information focused on how to deliver your own next generation IBM i applications. Registrants save $100 through Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Super-Saver rate of $495 ($395 for Summit Alumni.)
